HUTCHINSON — Downtown Hutchinson will unveil a new 30-foot Christmas tree during the monthly Third Thursday event, marking the unofficial start of the holiday season.

The City of Hutchinson and Hutch Rec will host a tree-lighting ceremony on Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in DCI Park. A pre-lighting ceremony begins at 6 p.m. and will include remarks from the mayor.

The two-hour public event will feature local artists, musicians and mobile food vendors. Downtown retailers will remain open late for holiday shopping.

Third Thursday is a recurring community event in downtown Hutchinson that showcases local businesses and entertainment.

Organizers encourage attendees to dress warmly for the outdoor ceremony.
