Hutchinson remains No. 1 in NJCAA football rankings for ninth straight week

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The top nine teams remained unchanged in this week's NJCAA Division I Football Rankings released Monday, October 6, with Hutchinson Community College maintaining its No. 1 position for the ninth straight poll dating to last season.
The Blue Dragons (4-0) wrapped up their non-conference schedule Saturday with a 50-0 road victory over Ellsworth. Hutchinson opens Jayhawk Conference play at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dodge City.
The Blue Dragons extended their program record for consecutive weeks in the national poll to 55. Hutchinson has been ranked in the top three for 49 consecutive polls and has held the No. 1 spot in 44 of the 74 polls released during the Drew Dallas era.
Hutchinson received all 12 first-place votes in this week's rankings. Iowa Western, Tyler, Mississippi Gulf Coast and Navarro round out the top five.
The Jayhawk Conference placed four teams in the nation's top 15. Garden City (4-1) is ranked No. 8, Coffeyville (2-2) sits at No. 14, and Butler (3-1) returned to the rankings at No. 15.
