Hutchinson police to host prescription drug take back event Saturday
Information obtained from Hutchinson Police Department

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event Saturday, Oct. 25.
The free and anonymous disposal event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dillon's Marketplace, 3200 Plaza Way.
The DEA and its partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs. Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container with the cap tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
For 16 years, the DEA's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has helped Americans safely dispose of unneeded medications — those that are old, unwanted or expired — to prevent drug misuse and abuse.
In partnership with local law enforcement, Take Back Day has removed more than 19.8 million pounds of medication from circulation since its inception. The event offers disposal of unneeded medications at nearly 4,500 drop-off locations nationwide.
