Hutchinson Police Department to Host Community Soccer Match for All Ages

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Police Department will host its annual community soccer match Saturday, Sept. 27, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

The event, open to both children and adults, will take place at 718 E. 23rd Ave. and encourages participants to bring shin guards and cleats for the friendly competition.

"Please join us on September 27th! We had a blast last year!" the police department announced on social media, promoting the community engagement initiative.

The soccer match represents part of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to build positive relationships with Hutchinson residents through recreational activities and informal interaction outside of traditional policing duties.

The event is sponsored in partnership with Club Harmony and the City of Hutchinson, demonstrating collaborative community programming between law enforcement, local organizations and municipal government.

Last year's inaugural event drew positive response from participants across age groups, according to police officials, leading to the decision to make it an annual tradition.

The Salthawk Sports Complex provides multiple playing fields and facilities suitable for accommodating various skill levels and age groups during the three-hour event window.

Community members interested in participating are encouraged to arrive prepared for outdoor physical activity and to bring appropriate athletic equipment for soccer play.

The police department has not specified whether registration is required or if the event operates on a drop-in basis for interested participants.
