HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson Police Department officer has completed one of the state's most rigorous law enforcement training programs, marking a significant milestone in her career with the agency.
Officer RyLee Patton graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, Class 356, the Hutchinson Police Department announced May 1 via their official Facebook page. Patton is expected to begin field training in the coming weeks.

KLETC, based in Hutchinson, is the state-mandated training academy for law enforcement officers in Kansas. Operated under the Kansas Board of Regents through Hutchinson Community College, the center requires all newly hired peace officers in the state to complete its basic training curriculum before they can serve in a sworn capacity. The program covers a broad range of subjects including criminal law, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, and crisis intervention.
Patton's completion of the program clears her to begin supervised field training alongside veteran officers, a standard final phase before new recruits assume solo patrol duties.
Field training programs typically pair new officers with experienced training officers over a period of several weeks, during which recruits are evaluated on their ability to apply academy instruction in real-world law enforcement situations.
