Information obtained from City of Hutchinson
HUTCHINSON — The City of Hutchinson is accepting applications for its Senior Citizen Low-Income Program for Water and Sewer, which provides monthly credits on utility bills for eligible residents.
The City Council has allocated funds for 2026 water bills, available on a first-come, first-served basis until the budget is exhausted. Applications can be submitted online or in person at Utility Billing in City Hall.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 65 years old by Jan. 1, 2026, and have water or sewer service in their name for residential use only. Household income must meet Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program guidelines, which are set at 150% of federal poverty limits.
Approved participants will receive monthly credits covering base water and sewer fees. Customers with both services will receive $25.84 per month.
Residents who already have a LIHEAP acceptance letter face a simplified application process. All applicants must reapply annually.
Applications are available at https://portal.laserfiche.com/k9854/forms/oUBZK. Applicants will receive confirmation emails once their applications are processed.
City officials said the program demonstrates Hutchinson's commitment to helping senior residents afford essential utilities.
