Hutchinson Man Succumbs to injuries from Traffic Accident

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident north of the city on August 27, the Reno County Sheriff's Office announced.
He has been identified as Kaden Marcum of Hutchinson. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the 6100 block of North Plum Street at 3:06 p.m. Tuesday, August 27. Personnel from the Reno County Sheriff's Office, Hutchinson Fire Department, Reno County EMS and Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
First responders found Marcum's 2010 Chevrolet Corvette overturned in the east ditch. Emergency crews worked to extricate him from the vehicle before he was airlifted to a Wichita hospital in critical condition, where he later passed away.
According to the investigation, both vehicles were traveling northbound on Plum Street when the 2012 Dodge Charger attempted to pass the Corvette. The vehicles collided, causing Marcum's car to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
The driver of the second vehicle, Ethan Goble, sustained minor injuries and was treated at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.
Investigators believe speed may have contributed to the accident.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities said no additional information will be released at this time.
