Hutchinson man arrested on drug charges following search warrant execution

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 57-year-old Hutchinson man was arrested Monday, Jan. 12, following the execution of a drug-related search warrant at his residence, according to the Reno County Sheriff's Office.

Douglas Wayne McBrien was taken into custody at 327 E. 1st Ave. on Jan. 12 by members of the Reno County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Hutchinson Police Department Special Operations Unit.

McBrien faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The methamphetamine charge involving the school zone enhancement alleges possession of 3.5 to 100 grams.

McBrien has not been convicted and is presumed innocent. Charges may be amended at the discretion of the district attorney and court.
