Hutchinson invites residents to tour water treatment facility April 1

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson is opening the doors of its water treatment facility next month, giving residents a firsthand look at how their drinking water is cleaned and delivered.

The Water Utilities Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. The free, come-and-go event will feature guided tours of the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility, where staff will walk visitors through the treatment process and explain how water reaches homes and businesses across the city.

Beyond the facility tour, attendees can visit interactive stations and speak directly with city staff about water treatment and distribution, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, infrastructure maintenance and long-term planning for future water needs.

City staff will be on hand throughout the evening to answer questions and discuss how the Utilities Department treats millions of gallons of water daily while maintaining safety and reliability standards. The event begins in the facility lobby.

The city said residents of all ages are encouraged to attend.
