Hutchinson Foundation's Youth Philanthropy Council Application Deadline Nears

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — High school students in Reno County have until Thursday to apply for the Hutchinson Community Foundation's 2025-26 Youth Philanthropy Council, which offers participants the chance to award $5,000 to local youth-serving organizations.
The application deadline is Sept. 19 for students interested in joining the council that evaluates project proposals and makes funding decisions for community nonprofits.
"This is the last week to apply," the foundation announced Monday in seeking applicants for the program that teaches students about community needs while providing hands-on experience in grant-making.
The Youth Philanthropy Council gives high school students direct involvement in charitable giving by allowing them to review applications from local organizations and determine funding recipients. Participants work alongside peers to assess which projects will have the greatest impact on youth in Reno County.
Applications are accepted year-round, but students must submit materials by Thursday's deadline to be considered for the upcoming council year. The foundation accepts applications through its website at hutchcf.org.
Students interested in learning more about the program or application process can contact Sarah Blake at 620-663-5293.
The Hutchinson Community Foundation, located at 1 N. Main St., operates as a social service organization focused on supporting local charitable initiatives.
The Youth Philanthropy Council represents part of the foundation's broader mission to engage community members in addressing local needs through strategic grant-making and volunteer opportunities.
