Hutchinson Community Foundation Board Tours LightHouse Housing Program

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community Foundation board and committee volunteers toured LightHouse, a transitional housing program operated by Interfaith Housing & Community Services, Inc., to learn about services for young adults experiencing housing insecurity.
Lacy Stauffacher, chief operations officer for Interfaith Housing & Community Services, led the Friday morning tour of the facility where young adults find safe, stable housing while working toward independence.
"We heard success stories of young people who, because of LightHouse, have been able to set goals, access community services, and build essential life skills that led to new employment or promotion opportunities and who are now thriving on their own in our community," the Hutchinson Community Foundation posted on social media.
The LightHouse program provides transitional housing for young adults who face housing instability, offering them a structured environment to develop skills necessary for independent living. Participants receive support in accessing community resources, job training and educational opportunities.
Interfaith Housing & Community Services seeks to alleviate poverty and build community through housing assistance, financial education and individual empowerment. The organization has served the Hutchinson area for nearly 30 years, crossing religious barriers to connect those in need with community resources.
The organization offers multiple programs including home repair and rehabilitation, financial education through its Creating Assets, Savings & Hope program, down payment assistance for potential homeowners and affordable rental housing options.
Founded in 1989 by Helen Rosenblad after she attended a housing meeting and recognized gaps in services for people unable to maintain their homes, Interfaith has evolved from meeting immediate housing needs to helping clients achieve long-term stability and financial security.
The foundation encouraged community support for LightHouse through financial contributions or supplies, directing interested donors to the organization's wishlist at https://a.co/4Kh7CUq.
Interfaith Housing & Community Services is led by President and CEO Clint Nelson and operates under the guidance of a board of directors chaired by Shane Iwashige.
