Hutchinson Community Foundation awards $600,000 in housing initiative grants

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community Foundation has announced a three-year, $1.53 million housing initiative aimed at promoting development within existing neighborhoods through small-scale, local projects.

The initiative prioritizes development that builds within established neighborhoods, small-scale incremental development driven by local developers, and balanced neighborhood evolution, according to a foundation announcement.

The foundation raised the funding through a dollar-for-dollar matching opportunity of $650,000 provided by three major donors: the Dee & Dave Dillon Donor Advised Fund, the Walter E. & Velma G. Justice Fund for Reno County, and the Henry Krause Charitable Foundation.

The initiative will distribute $450,000 to Interfaith Housing & Community Services and $150,000 to New Beginnings, Inc.

More than 20 donor-advised funds and individual donors contributed to the matching campaign, including the Bob & Ruthie Barker fund, multiple Dillon family funds, and The Beach-Edwards Family Foundation.

"Thanks again to all our generous donors," the foundation stated in its announcement.

The foundation is continuing to accept donations for the housing initiative through its website at hutchcf.org/housing or by contacting Aubrey Patterson at aubrey@hutchcf.org.

The Hutchinson Community Foundation is a social service organization located at 1 N Main St Ste 501 in Hutchinson.
