Hutchinson Community College Health Information Management Program Selected as National Demonstration Site
Information obtained from HCC officials

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College's Health Information Management program has been selected as a demonstration site by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.
The designation allows the HIM program to collaborate with peer institutions nationwide to develop innovative assignments and projects using a competency-based education model. Faculty will work with other participating colleges to design forward-thinking curricula that prepare graduates with skills required in today's healthcare industry.
The demonstration program focuses on creating educational approaches that align with a hybrid, competency-based education framework rather than traditional classroom methods. This model emphasizes practical skills and measurable competencies students need for healthcare information management careers.
Upon completion of the demonstration phase, the HIM program will undergo a formal re-survey process with CAHIIM. Successful completion will result in official recognition and public promotion of the program as a leader in competency-based education within the health information field.
The Health Information Management program is part of Hutchinson Community College's Allied Health Programs division. The college offers two-year community college programs and is located at 1300 N. Plum St. in Hutchinson.
Additional information about the HIM program is available at www.hutchcc.edu/him or by contacting the college at 620-665-3500.
