Hutchinson City Employees Retire After Decades of Service

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Two longtime Hutchinson city employees were honored last week for their combined decades of public service as they transitioned into retirement.

LD Peevyhouse retired from the city's Utilities Department after what officials described as "an impressive and wide-ranging career." Peevyhouse served the community in multiple roles within the Engineering Division and at various job stations throughout the city's Waste Water Treatment Plant.

John Pohl concluded his career with the Parks and Recreation Department after years of maintaining city-owned buildings and park amenities. His work included craftsmanship and leadership on projects at popular community destinations such as park shelters, restrooms and playgrounds at locations including the Hutchinson Zoo.

Pohl was involved in several high-profile projects during his tenure, including construction of an otter exhibit and beaver den at the zoo. He also contributed to playground improvements at locations such as Robert Dams, Vic Brown, Herman Runte, Grandview and Zoo Pelican Point.

The city recognized both employees for their dedication to public service and willingness to address community needs as they arose.
