Hutchinson City Council to consider water rate increases, bond issuance at Oct. 21 meeting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at City Hall to consider several resolutions, including updated water and wastewater rates and multiple bond authorizations.
The council will consider a resolution approving updated water and wastewater rates and authorizing the mayor to sign. Another resolution on the agenda would authorize issuance of general obligation bonds to pay for certain water system improvements, also requiring mayoral authorization.
A third resolution addresses authorizing the public sale of certain general obligation bonds and notes of the city, with the mayor authorized to sign.
Other agenda items include proclamations, National First Responder's Day, the 2024 financial audit and consideration of awarding Hayes Site RFP #25-58 to Garibay Properties LLC.
The council will also consider Fairgrounds Park playground equipment replacement and design services for a free-range cat room addition.
An ordinance establishing a parks and forestry board and repealing Article II of Chapter 11 of the Hutchinson City Code will be considered, with the mayor authorized to sign.
The Reno County Economic Development Strategic Plan Update is also on the agenda.
