Hutchinson Block Party to Feature Live Music, Food Trucks Aug. 16

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A community block party featuring live music and local food vendors will take place Aug. 16 in downtown Hutchinson as part of a fundraising effort for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Creative Connections Block Party, organized by TECH Inc., will run from 4-10 p.m. at 14 W 8th Street in downtown Hutchinson. The event will feature an art walk, food trucks, live music performances and a cornhole tournament.

Admission costs $25 for adults and $10 for children. The event will include a cash bar and curated art and craft vendor fair.

"The Creative Connections Block Party is a high-energy celebration that brings the community together through art, music, food and fun," according to promotional materials from TECH Inc. The organization supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Reno County.

The musical lineup includes performances by Juneelz, Dylan Groves, Wyatt Johnson and Annie Up, with performance times scheduled throughout the evening.

Country Music Hall of Famer to Perform at Historic Fox Theatre

In a separate event, Country Music Hall of Fame inductee John Anderson will perform an acoustic show Aug. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre.

Anderson, whose career includes 20 Top Ten hits and five No. 1 singles, has been inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and received the Academy of Country Music Career Achievement Award. His catalog includes classics such as "Swingin'" and "Straight Tequila Night."

Tickets for the John Anderson performance range from $59-$89 and are available through the Historic Fox Theatre box office.
