HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Art Center will open a new exhibition featuring the paintings and sculptures of Kansas artist Christina Lamoureaux in its Main Gallery beginning April 10.
Titled "Pulse of the Prairie Continues," the show will run through May 16, 2026, with an opening reception scheduled for Friday, April 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Lamoureaux is known for her mixed-media compositions that layer clay, underglaze, glaze, paint and encaustics to create richly textured painted and sculptural works. Her artistic vision is rooted in the Kansas landscape, developed through years of biking across the prairie and photographing everyday life.
Her body of work spans hundreds of life portraits, watercolor series and lithography editions — techniques she weaves together to explore the environment and its lessons.
Lamoureaux holds a Master of Art in Printmaking and a Master of Fine Arts in Inter-Media from Fort Hays State University. Her work has appeared in national exhibitions, and she has taught art for 38 years.
"Her research and practice offers a rich platform of artistic achievement that showcases beautiful visions of the environment and its life lessons," the Hutchinson Art Center said in announcing the exhibit.
"Pulse of the Prairie Continues" will be on display in the Main Gallery at the Hutchinson Art Center from April 10 through May 16, 2026.
