Hutchinson-area runners bring home 2 state titles, 3rd-place finish

Hutchinson-area runners bring home 2 state titles, 3rd-place finish

WAMEGO — Hutchinson-area athletes had strong showings on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Kansas State High School Activities Association cross country championships, bringing home two championship trophies and a third-place finish.

The KSHSAA 2025 Cross Country 4A and 2A championships were held at Wamego Country Club.

Class 4A girls

The Buhler girls cross country team won the 4A girls 2025 state championship with a score of 67 points. Host school Wamego placed second and Baldwin placed third.

Medalists for Buhler were Corbin Starkweather, who placed third, and Isabella Friezen, placing fourth.

Class 4A boys

The Buhler boys cross country team placed third at the 4A boys 2025 state championship with a score of 119. Host school Wamego won the championship trophy, and Andale placed second.

Medalists for the Buhler boys were Gavin Lindahl, who placed third, and Ryan Cherry, placing 14th.

Class 2A boys

The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic cross country team won the 2A boys 2025 state championship with a score of 64 points. Kansas City Christian placed second, and Central Heights placed third.

Medalists for the Trinity Catholic boys were Jacob Lindstrom, who was state champion with a time of 18:16.50. John Lindstrom finished in fourth place and Cameron Kiser placed 18th.
