Hutchinson Announces Traffic Changes for Kansas State Fair

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The city of Hutchinson has announced several traffic modifications to accommodate thousands of visitors expected for the Kansas State Fair, which runs Sept. 3-15.
According to a city announcement, State Fair Road from Main Street to Plum Street will be closed for the duration of the fair. Plum Street will also be closed Sept. 3-14, with full closures on weekends and restricted hours from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The city has installed temporary traffic lights at the intersections of 20th and Main streets and 23rd and Main streets, which will remain active Sept. 1-18 to help manage increased traffic flow.
Additionally, Poplar Street from Crescent to 20th Street will operate as northbound-only traffic from Sept. 3-15.
City officials noted that State Fair Road falls under the Kansas State Fair's jurisdiction for safety and traffic management during the event period.
"We encourage everyone to plan ahead, use caution in nearby neighborhoods, and watch for extra pedestrian traffic," the city said in its announcement. "Let's show visitors the best of Hutchinson!"
The Kansas State Fair is held annually in Hutchinson, drawing visitors from across the region to the fairgrounds.
