HutchCC cuts ribbon on renovated Allied Health Facility with U.S. Senator Moran

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College officially completed Phase 3 of its Allied Health renovation project Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Davis Hall, marking the end of a multiphase effort to expand healthcare workforce training in central Kansas.

U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran attended the ceremony and helped secure the congressional funding that made the project possible. The renovation expanded lab and classroom spaces and added modernized faculty and student areas, including a new state-of-the-art radiology lab.

"Today, we aren't just opening a building; we're investing in the future of the healthcare workforce for Hutchinson, Reno County and the state of Kansas," said HutchCC President Tricia Paramore.

Paramore described the event as the culmination of a three-phase vision that began with upgraded simulation labs and expanded nursing capacity. Tuesday's opening completed that effort with modernized student spaces.

Moran tied the investment directly to a workforce crisis affecting communities statewide.

"There is not a place in Kansas where you don't hear the same thing — 'we can't find people to work,'" Moran said. "The core of improving healthcare access is increasing workforce training."

The senator emphasized that without trained healthcare workers, towns risk losing hospitals, families and long-term stability.

Paramore thanked faculty who adapted during construction, community partners including Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, and Moran for his role in securing federal support.

Following the remarks, community leaders, college officials and partners cut the ceremonial ribbon. Guests were then invited to tour Davis Hall's updated classrooms, collaborative spaces and the new radiology lab.
