Hornets dominate Salthawks 65-46 in Tuesday matchup

The Hutchinson High School Salthawks lost to the Valley Center High School Hornets 65-46 on Feb. 10, 2026, at the Salthawk Activity Center.

The Hutchinson High School Salthawks boys basketball team hosted the Valley Center High School Hornets at the Salthawk Activity Center on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The Valley Center Hornets and the Hutchinson Salthawks entered the game with identical records. The Hornets established the pace of the game early and maintained control throughout. Valley Center won the game 65-46.

Valley Center established an early lead, attacking the Salthawks from all areas of the court. Although the Salthawks tied the score early in the second quarter, the Hornets responded by pressuring Hutchinson's passing offense and thwarting many of their scoring opportunities.

Valley Center demonstrated a balanced offense, with three players scoring in double figures. The Hornets made seven 3-pointers, while the Salthawks managed only two.

For Hutchinson, junior Lamar Govain and sophomore Larry Jeremiah Jr. were the primary scorers, combining for 41 of the team's 46 points.

With this loss, the Salthawks' record now stands at 6-11. Hutchinson will next play a home game against Derby on Friday at the Salthawk Activity Center.
