Historic Fox Theatre Continues Entertainment Legacy in Downtown Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Hutchinson's Historic Fox Theatre, which opened June 8, 1931, continues to serve as a regional center for performing arts and film in downtown Hutchinson. Designed by the Boller Brothers, the theatre is considered one of the finest examples of art deco architecture in the Central United States.

The Fox Theatre holds the designation as the "State Movie Palace of Kansas" and is listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places. The venue operates under the mission to "share live performances where transformative moments of magic uplift and expand the spirit and imagination of the Heartland."

The theatre offers an eclectic mix of programming, including nationally touring theatre, dance, comedy and musical shows, a popular film series, and educational initiatives. It serves as home to several local performing arts companies, including the Hutchinson Symphony, Sweet Adelines, ArtisTree and the acclaimed bi-annual "Prairie Nutcracker" production.

The Fox offers both sub-run films and live entertainment experiences in a fully restored historic venue, featuring one of the few surviving original neon marquees in the country, which underwent complete restoration in 2011.
