High School Teacher Sets New Kansas State Fair Record in Pronto Pup Eating Contest

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Nickerson High School teacher claimed his fifth victory at the Kansas State Fair's annual Pronto Pup eating contest Saturday, setting a new record by consuming 11 corn dogs in 10 minutes.

Mike Hill's latest triumph adds to his impressive streak at the fair's popular eating competition, sponsored by D&J Pronto Pup. The contest draws crowds of spectators who gather to watch contestants attempt to devour as many of the fair's signature corn dogs as possible within the time limit.

The previous record holder was not immediately available for comment, and fair officials did not release details about the former record.

Hill's victory continues his dominance in the competition, making him a five-time champion of the event. The contest has become a staple attraction at the Kansas State Fair, which runs annually in Hutchinson.

The Kansas State Fair, which features agricultural exhibits, carnival rides, concerts and various competitions, typically draws hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The fair's eating contests have become increasingly popular attractions alongside traditional events like livestock shows and craft competitions.

D&J Pronto Pup, the contest's sponsor, operates concession stands at the fair serving the corn dogs that have become synonymous with the Kansas State Fair experience.

Fair officials said the event was well-attended despite challenging weather conditions that have affected some outdoor activities this year.
