Hesston rolls past Buhler 55-32 in boys basketball

The Buhler High School Crusaders boys basketball team hosted the Hesston High School Swathers at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.

The Hesston Swathers entered Friday night's game with a season record of 13-1, while Buhler's record stood at 7-7.

The Crusaders and the Swathers spent the first four minutes probing for an advantage. However, in the final 12 minutes of the half, the Hesston Swathers demonstrated their ability, ending the first quarter with a score of 18-9 and leading by 21 points at halftime, 32-11.

In the second half, the Swathers continued to maintain their lead, scoring both inside the paint and from beyond the three-point arc. The Swathers made six three-pointers for the game compared with just one for Buhler. The Buhler squad continued to compete, but Hesston outplayed them on both ends of the court. The Swathers led by as much as 26 early in the fourth quarter, finishing with a final score of 55-32.

The leading scorer for the Crusaders was sophomore Brycen McCurdy, who recorded 14 points. Juniors Kason Landes and Drew Bartell Proctor led the Swathers with 13 points each.

With the loss, the Crusaders' record now stands at 8-7, and the Swathers are 14-1. Buhler's next game will be on the road at El Dorado on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Their next home game will be against Wichita Collegiate on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse.
