Hesston pulls away from Buhler 39-27 in girls basketball

The Buhler High School Crusaders girls basketball team hosted the Hesston High School Swathers at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026.

At the beginning of the game, both teams were sizing each other up. The Swathers started the game with full-court pressure on the Crusaders. Both squads were playing at a high pace, pushing the ball up and down the court. The period ended with Hesston leading 8-7.

The second quarter found both teams maintaining the intensity as in the first. Hesston took advantage of its height advantage under the basket, finishing the half with a 16-11 lead.

The Swathers dominated the second half, displaying strong performances on both offense and defense. Hesston extended its lead to eight points midway through the third quarter. Although Buhler managed to narrow the gap to three points in the fourth quarter, the Swathers hit several late shots to secure the win with a 12-point margin, finishing the game at 39-27.

The Crusaders' leading scorer was junior Tori Tustan with eight points. Sophomore Jacy Proctor led the Swathers with 17.

With the loss, the Crusaders' record now stands at 7-8, and the Swathers are 9-6. Buhler's next game will be on the road at El Dorado on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Their next home game will be against Wichita Collegiate on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse.
