Hays Regional Airport Sets Passenger Record in 2025

HAYS, Kan. — Hays Regional Airport recorded its highest annual passenger traffic in 2025 with 17,345 total outbound passengers on SkyWest Airlines, representing a 19.49% increase over 2024's 14,516 boardings. The airport also handled an additional 217 passengers through charter and air ambulance operations, marking continued growth since SkyWest began commercial service in 2015 with 8,102 passengers in its first full year.

City Manager Toby Dougherty credited Airport Director Jamie Salter's leadership for the record performance, citing her operational management and long-term planning strategies. Salter thanked local SkyWest and TSA crews, Hays Aircraft, and consulting firm ArkStar Group for their contributions to what she called "the gold standard" in regional airport customer service.
