Hays Police Officer Killed Responding to Domestic Violence Call
Officer dies after being shot by suspect who was also killed in Saturday night incident.

HAYS — A Hays police officer died Saturday night after being shot while responding to a domestic violence call in the 2200 block of Downing Street at 10:58 p.m. The suspect opened fire on the arriving officer and was pronounced dead at the scene, while the wounded officer was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation, and authorities say no additional suspects are being sought in connection with the incident that claimed the life of the officer in the line of duty.
