Gouldsby earns third Special Teams honor as No. 1 Hutchinson routs Highland

HIGHLAND — Hutchinson Community College sophomore Kordell Gouldsby recorded limited touches Saturday, Nov. 15, but his impact proved decisive in the top-ranked Blue Dragons' 49-7 victory over Highland.

Gouldsby earned Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors Tuesday, Nov. 18, his third such award this season. The return specialist previously won the recognition in consecutive weeks during Week 7 and Week 8.

The sophomore set the tone early with a 56-yard kickoff return that positioned Hutchinson at the Highland 36-yard line. The Blue Dragons capitalized four plays later with a touchdown.

Gouldsby added a 30-yard punt return in the first quarter that resulted in a field goal. He finished with 96 all-purpose yards against the Scotties.

The honor marks the 12th time this season a Hutchinson player has received a KJCCC weekly award in offense, defense or special teams. Eight different Blue Dragons have earned recognition, with Gouldsby and offensive standout Derrick Salley Jr. each winning twice previously.

No. 1 Hutchinson hosts Garden City at noon Saturday, Nov. 22, at Gowans Stadium.
