Girls Varsity Swim Takes 4th at Hutchinson
Ella Schrag wins 100 butterfly as Bullpups finish fourth out of 10 teams.
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The McPherson High School girls varsity swim team placed fourth with 265 points at an invitational held at the Hutchinson YMCA, finishing behind champion Buhler (463), Andover Central (404) and Mazie South (267) in a 10-team field.
Ella Schrag led the Bullpups with a first-place finish in the 100 butterfly at 1:10.11, while Adyson Wiens earned a state consideration nod in the 100 backstroke after placing fourth in 1:09.77. Wiens also took second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.96, and Zoe Busenitz added a runner-up finish in the 500 freestyle at 6:58.47.
Kennedy Hecker placed third in the 500 freestyle at 7:29.26, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Schrag, Brinnley Robinson, Kaylee Frank and Wiens finished fourth in 4:34.62.
