Rep. Tracey Mann on Government Shutdown
Rep. Tracey Mann, R-Kan., blamed Democrats for the federal government shutdown, saying they refused to vote for a continuing resolution that would extend government funding through Nov. 21. Mann said House Republicans passed a clean, seven-week CR on Sept. 19 to keep the government functioning and pay troops, Social Security recipients and Border Patrol and TSA agents.
Mann accused Democrats of choosing to shut down the government rather than work together, saying they demanded funding for health care for undocumented immigrants, rolling back tax cuts for working and middle-class families, and stripping rural hospitals of funding from the Working Families Tax Cut.
Farm Economy Discussion
Mann appeared on the AgriPulse Open Mic podcast to discuss challenges facing farmers across the Big First district, including the need for targeted relief for farmers, ranchers and agricultural producers, expanding trade opportunities, and how the Working Families Tax Cut provides certainty for the agricultural community.
Congressional Internships
Mann's office is accepting applications for spring 2026 internships with a deadline of Oct. 24, 2025. Required materials include an online application, resume, two letters of recommendation and a writing sample highlighting an important policy issue.
District Meetings
Mann met with constituents across the Big First district, including leaders at Hannebaum Grain Company, toured the Salina Airport Authority, and joined Dodge City Community College and Kansas State University for signing a memorandum of understanding to expand educational opportunities. He also stopped by Pepsi-Cola of Manhattan.
