From the office of Rep. Sharice Davids

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — U.S. Rep. Sharice Davids said she would consider running for Republican U.S. Senator Roger Marshall's seat in 2026 if Kansas GOP lawmakers succeed in redrawing her congressional district. "Every option is on the table, including a statewide run," the Kansas Democrat said. Kansas Republicans have proposed a midcycle redistricting plan that would require splitting Johnson County, the core of Davids' district.
Davids, the only Democrat in Kansas's congressional delegation, has hosted furloughed federal workers and criticized the Trump Administration's mass firings of civil servants during the ongoing shutdown. She said federal workers "are not political pawns" and warned that the cuts will "uproot the lives of dedicated civil servants" and threaten public trust and safety. Legal scholars have questioned the legality of the administration's decision to fire workers during the shutdown. More than 30,000 federal workers are furloughed in the Kansas City area, where the federal government is the region's largest employer. Davids called for a bipartisan agreement to reopen the government and supports bills guaranteeing pay for aviation workers and active-duty service members.
Davids also issued a statement supporting the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement, commending President Trump for helping secure the deal while emphasizing the need for a two-state solution in the Middle East.
