A fire early Wednesday, Oct. 28, destroyed a garage and two vehicles in Hutchinson's 300 block of East 8th and damaged three houses, though all occupants got out on their own and no injuries were reported.

According to a release from Fire Chief Jeremy Unruh, the Hutchinson Fire Department responded at 2:05 a.m. The first-arriving units found the garage fully in flames, with both vehicles burning in front of it.

The first unit to arrive attacked the fire while other units protected the three houses, which the release calls exposures, meaning nearby structures at risk of catching fire.

The primary residence had fire damage to its exterior and in its attic, and the houses to the west and south had exterior fire damage. The cause was under investigation as of the release.
