Douglass Activity Center parking lot to close for maintenance

MANHATTAN, Kan. — The parking lot at the Douglass Activity Center will be closed to the public Thursday and Friday, Sept. 25-26, for concrete sealing and replacement work on sidewalks.

Manhattan Parks and Recreation announced the closure, asking for patience as crews make improvements to enhance the area for everyone.

The Douglass Activity Center, located at 925 Yuma Street, is a 21,000-square-foot facility featuring a high school regulation basketball court that can be configured as two cross courts or two NCAA-size volleyball courts or two pickleball courts. The center also includes a community room, fitness room and an elevated three-lane walking track.

The center is part of the Frederick Douglass Recreation Complex, which serves the Manhattan community and continues to represent and celebrate the rich history of the Black community within Manhattan.
