Distinguished Student Overcomes Challenges to Excel at Hutchinson Community College

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Karsyn Fraser-Slothower of Maize has been named a Distinguished Dragon at Hutchinson Community College, where she studied Business Management and Entrepreneurship while balancing multiple responsibilities and overcoming personal challenges.
Fraser-Slothower's nominator praised her dedication across various roles. "I have been blessed to have this student in multiple classes," the nominator wrote. "Each class, she continues to impress me with her ability to work hard and stay engaged in the classroom."
The student's commitment to learning stood out particularly during difficult times. Despite facing personal hardships, Fraser-Slothower maintained her focus on education and growth.
Faculty members consistently recognized Fraser-Slothower as a top performer throughout her nearly two decades of teaching experience. Her instructor noted her "fantastic critical thinking and writing skills" and described her as demonstrating exceptional leadership qualities.
Fraser-Slothower earned repeated placement on the President's Honor Roll and served as an active member of the HutchCC Dance Club. She also participated on the college's student council.
Beyond academics, Fraser-Slothower contributed to the college's athletic program as a goalkeeper for the HutchCC Soccer Team, where she helped set career goals records and achieved significant milestones during her tenure.
Her involvement extended to campus performances, including a memorable role in the talent show "Ice Ice Baby," which she cited as one of her favorite college experiences.
