Cosmosphere Opens Applications for Inaugural Student Advisory Board

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Cosmosphere, an international science education center and space museum, is accepting applications for its inaugural Student Advisory Board for the 2025-2026 school year.
The board will include students representing every high school in Reno County and aims to bring youth voices into the museum's ongoing work, according to a news release issued in August.
Board members will meet monthly on the second Tuesday of each month from 3-5 p.m. During meetings, students will assist with planning the first four ongoing exhibit development projects at the Cosmosphere, including Education, SpaceWorks and Collections. The sessions will be followed by one-hour advisory periods focused on programs, exhibits, field trips, films and other initiatives.
"Since 1962, the Cosmosphere has worked to inspire the future through space exploration," said Cosmosphere President and CEO Jim Remar. "As we continue this important mission, we are excited to hear from the youth of our area. We know the Cosmosphere's new Student Advisory Board will help further solidify the Cosmosphere as a leader in science education."
The program is designed to give students behind-the-scenes access to museum operations while developing leadership skills and engaging with different departments to enhance experiences for visitors and learners.
Applications for the Student Advisory Board are open to all high school students in Reno County. Interested students can learn more and apply at cosmosphere.org/student-advisory-board.
The Cosmosphere, located at 1100 North Plum Street, serves as both an educational facility and tourist attraction, featuring space artifacts and interactive exhibits related to the U.S. space program.
