Community group hosts meet and greet to discuss 2026 plans

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A local organization will host a free informational event at Rice Park Shelter to discuss its mission and upcoming plans for 2026.

Hutchinson Emancipation Day will hold a meet and greet Jan. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the shelter, located at 1801 Swarens St. The event will feature beef brisket sliders, cocktails and giveaways.

The group invites community members to learn about its work focused on education, outreach and programming aimed at creating a more equitable society.

According to a social media post, organizers hope attendees will join them in building a community residents can take pride in through various events and programs.
