Cancer Council of Reno County to Host Second Annual Coins for Cancer Drive

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Cancer Council of Reno County will hold its second annual "Coins for Cancer" fundraising drive Sept. 15-19 as part of a dual awareness campaign highlighting both childhood and prostate cancer.

The "Kids Against Cancer" coin drive comes during what the organization calls a "joint awareness month," focusing on Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month simultaneously in September.

"Cancer Council of Reno County is highlighting a JOINT awareness month this September," the organization announced. "We hope to raise awareness for two powerful causes: Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – shining a light on our youngest fighters and their families, and Prostate Cancer Awareness Month – encouraging men to get screened and protect their health."

The nonprofit organization emphasized that both types of cancer directly impact the local community and stressed the importance of early detection in saving lives.

"Both of these cancers touch lives right here in our community," officials said. "This month, we're committed to spreading awareness, supporting patients and families, and reminding everyone that early detection saves lives."

The Cancer Council of Reno County, located at 719 W. 4th Ave., provides services to individuals and families affected by cancer and offers education about prevention and treatment to the general public. The organization has received a 100% recommendation rating from five reviews.

Throughout September, the organization plans to share educational resources and information about how community members can support cancer awareness efforts.

"Join us throughout September to show your support," the council stated. "Together, we can spread hope, raise awareness, and stand strong for every patient."
