Bullpups Varsity Girls Volleyball Sweeps Doubleheader
McPherson rallied past Buhler before rolling Augusta in straight sets.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity girls volleyball team picked up two wins Tuesday, grinding out a three-set victory over Buhler (19-25, 25-23, 25-18) before cruising past Augusta (25-11, 25-11) in dominant fashion. Against Buhler, the Bullpups dropped the opening set before a wild second set — one in which McPherson missed seven serves — came down to the wire, with key serving from Karlie Cooper and a Buhler double-contact call clinching the set. "Carmin Pavlovich was the hot hitter in the match carrying us with her high hitting percentage and kills," said Coach Doile, adding that the emotional effort from the bench and players on the court was much improved from the previous Saturday. Pavlovich finished the night with 15 kills and 12 digs, while Harper Rierson added 14 kills and three aces, and Rylie Whitfield distributed 36 assists. Against Augusta, the Bullpups rolled despite a large, loud Oriole student section, getting contributions throughout the roster — including an ace from senior Lily Vance and a standout kill from the 10-foot line by senior Carmin Pavlovich.
