MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson's middle school Bullpups boys and girls track teams competed at the Hays Invitational on May 1, with the seventh-grade girls and eighth-grade girls each finishing third overall, the eighth-grade boys placing fourth and the seventh-grade boys finishing seventh.

Individual standouts included eighth-grader Elles Pavlovich, who won the long jump at 15 feet, 6.75 inches and set a school record in the triple jump at 32-6.5, while eighth-grader Cole Barkley set a school record of his own in the high jump at 5-10; seventh-graders Cali Melton and Maleah Crawford won the high jump at 4-8, Macie Reinwald took first in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.97 seconds, Reese Kramer swept the 1,600-meter run (6:01.93) and 400-meter dash (1:04.10), and Kingston Slyter topped the eighth-grade boys triple jump at 37-10.

On the relay side, the seventh-grade girls 4x800 relay set a school record with a winning time of 11:29.42, the seventh-grade girls 4x400 relay won in 4:43.69, the eighth-grade boys 4x100 relay took first in 48.48 seconds, and the seventh-grade girls 4x200 relay finished second in 1:59.50.
