Bullpups Girls Varsity Tennis Eyes State Title
McPherson returns five state medalists after a runner-up finish last season.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity girls tennis team enters the new season loaded with experience, returning five players who earned medals at the 4A state tournament a year ago, when the squad claimed the AVCTL 3 and 4 league title, the 4A McPherson Regional championship and finished as state runners-up. Leading the returners are seniors Avery Unruh and Dragon Rodriguez, junior Quinn Liebl and sophomore Lleyton Kuhn — who each placed in the top five in doubles at state — along with senior McKenna Paul, a 2024 9th-place state doubles finisher. The Bullpups will also look to JV league champions Ava Miller, Audra Sandbo and Sadie Krug to add depth as McPherson works to convert last season's runner-up heartbreak into a state championship.
