WICHITA, Kan. — The McPherson Middle School Bullpups girls tennis team finished fifth out of eight programs Saturday at the Maize South Invitational, tallying 29 points behind tournament winner Andover (46) and runner-up Maize South (33). Addie Schneider went 3-2 at No. 1 singles — earning third place — with all three wins coming in tiebreaks, including a comeback victory over Andover Central after trailing 0-3 in the tiebreak; Halle Schneider went 2-2 at No. 2 singles for fourth place, while the No. 2 doubles tandem of Aly Jo Rausch and Paityn Behrens also took third with a 3-2 mark. "Aly Jo Rausch and Paityn Behrens worked extremely well together playing #2 doubles, demonstrating great athleticism moving around the court while also supporting each other in each point," said coach Henry Weiner, who added that he was pleased with the team's overall performance against stiff Wichita-area competition.
