Bullpups Fall 1-7 to Southeast in Maize South Opener
McPherson drops first-round match but earns a late goal on a strong finish.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity boys soccer team fell 1-7 to Southeast in the first round of the Maize South tournament, with Jackson Martin scoring the lone goal late in the second half as the Bullpups refused to fold. Goalkeeper Hunter Schroeder made 11 saves on 18 shots while McPherson managed two shots on goal. "With 20 minutes remaining and the score 0-7 at the water break, it would have been easy for the team to let the game get away from them and simply try to get on the bus. Instead, they refused to give up," coach Adrian said. "Jackson Martin capped off that effort with a really nice goal late in the game, which was a great reward for the team's persistence."
