Bullpups Cross Country Eyes State in 2026
McPherson returns a deep core with big goals for both programs.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups varsity boys and girls cross country programs enter the 2026 season with state ambitions and a strong returning core after a landmark 2025 campaign that saw the boys finish fifth as a team at state — returning four of seven from that roster — and senior Adeline Kramer place 10th at state on the girls' side. Top returners on the girls' squad include Kramer, Kamryn Prescott, Molly Owen and Eliza Jex, while Tripp Pelzel, Nathan Friesen, Isaiah Ortiz and Jonas Emery headline the boys, with newcomers Megan Emery, Xavier Hartinger and Oren Klein drawing early attention as potential breakouts. Coach Rempe said 'both teams have set lofty goals of qualifying for the State meet as well as having high League finishes' and that 'each of the individual athletes have set lofty individual goals, each of which are PRs compared to their best times last year,' with the Wamego Invitational and Rim Rock Classic circled as key early measuring sticks.
