Bullpups Build Postseason Momentum at El Dorado
Muehler Takes Individual Title as Boys Finish Runner-Up, Over Half of Team Medals
The McPherson cross country teams continued their strong late-season surge at the El Dorado meet, with the boys varsity squad finishing second and over half of the Bullpup runners earning medals. Senior Caleb Muehler led the charge with an individual championship, crossing the finish line in 15:58 to claim first place and pace the boys to their runner-up team finish.
The boys varsity placed five runners in medal positions, with Kayden Friesen finishing ninth in 17:28, Jonas Emery taking 17th in 18:42, Nathan Friesen placing 20th in 18:46, and Tripp Pelzel rounding out the scoring five with a 22nd place finish in 18:56. Isaiah Ortiz and Drake Timson also contributed solid performances, finishing 29th and 30th respectively. On the junior varsity side, Charlie Unruh and Maxton Nelson both medaled with 18th and 20th place finishes.
The varsity girls team finished fifth overall and placed three runners on the medal stand. Adeline Kramer led the Lady Bullpups with an eighth place finish in 21:03, followed by Reesa Whorton in 13th place at 21:57 and Eliza Jex in 19th at 22:42. Molly Owen and Lindley Jex completed the scoring for McPherson, placing 26th and 30th respectively.
The Bullpups carried momentum from the previous week into El Dorado, with several athletes posting season-best times. With postseason competition approaching in the coming weeks, McPherson looks to continue building on these strong performances as they prepare for the most important meets of the season.
