Bullpup Boys Tennis Earns League Runner-Up Honors
McPherson finishes second in the AVCTL behind powerhouse Wichita Collegiate.
BUHLER, Kan. — The McPherson Bullpups boys varsity tennis team finished second in the AVCTL League Tournament on Tuesday at Buhler High School, posting 43 points behind champion Wichita Collegiate (60) and ahead of host Buhler (35), Winfield (34), El Dorado (29), Wellington (26), Circle (13) and Augusta (12).
The doubles team of Jonas Emery and Mason Eisenbarth earned All-League honors with a 3-1 record and third-place finish, while Rylan Unruh also earned All-League recognition in singles with a 3-1 record and fifth-place finish; Cooper Bohme went 2-2 for seventh, and the doubles duo of Hayden Siemens and Jack Boese also finished seventh at 2-2.
McPherson now turns its attention to Regionals on Friday, which the Bullpups will host on their home courts, with coach noting that qualifying all six players for state could position the team to contend on day two of the state tournament.
