Buhler USD 313 Announces Back-to-School Events and New Programs
BUHLER, Kan. — Buhler USD 313 has released information for the upcoming school year, including enrollment dates, open houses and a new STEAM academy partnership.
The district will hold new student enrollment Aug. 4 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at individual school buildings. Parents can find enrollment information and required documents at usd313.org/page/enrollment.
Open houses are scheduled throughout August. Buhler Grade School will host visitors Aug. 11 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while Union Valley and Plum Creek elementary schools will hold open houses the same evening. Prairie Hills Middle School's open house is Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Buhler High School will welcome families Aug. 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The first days of school follow a staggered schedule beginning Aug. 12. First and sixth grade students along with new seventh through 12th graders will attend Aug. 12 and 13 with two-hour early dismissals. First grade through seniors will attend Aug. 14 and 15, also with early dismissals. All students begin regular attendance Aug. 19.
Ad Astra Academies students will begin Aug. 12 and attend all listed days. The program offers pre-assessment meetings for Pre-K and kindergarten students Aug. 13-15.
New STEAM Partnership Announced
The district has partnered with Ad Astra Academies and the Cosmosphere to launch a new STEAM Academy for high school students. The hybrid learning program combines virtual instruction with hands-on laboratory experiences at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.
The program serves grades 9-12 and offers dual credit opportunities along with real-world STEAM learning experiences. Space is limited for the inaugural program.
Community 5K Event Planned
The third annual B-Well Frolic 5K is scheduled Sept. 27 at Prairie Bank of Kansas on Main Street in Buhler. The 5K begins at 8 a.m., with a one-mile walk starting at 8:05 a.m.
Entry fees are $20 and include event shirts. Registration is due by Aug. 23. All proceeds support the USD 313 wellness program. Midway Motors serves as the lead sponsor.
