Buhler edges Augusta 36-33 behind Voss, strong second half

BUHLER — Buhler High School Crusaders girls basketball hosted the Augusta High School Orioles at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026.
The game started slowly in what would be a low-scoring matchup. The Augusta Orioles took the lead early, finishing the first quarter with a score of 6-2 in their favor. They maintained a narrow advantage, leading 15-12 at halftime. The Buhler offense primarily operated from the perimeter, while the Orioles found success by consistently feeding the ball into the lane. Buhler junior Ella Voss and Augusta junior Chloe Wignall were standout players for their respective teams.
In the third quarter, the Crusaders stepped up their defensive intensity and shooting accuracy. By the end of the quarter, Buhler had taken its first lead, 24-22.
Both teams increased their pace in the fourth quarter, each striving for an advantage. Buhler managed to extend its lead to seven points, going up 32-25 with two minutes remaining.
Augusta hit a 3-point shot with 16 seconds left, narrowing the score to 35-33. Despite the pressure, the Crusaders remained composed and secured the win, finishing 36-33.
With the win, the Crusaders' record now stands at 5-4, and the Orioles fell to 2-7. Their next game will be at home versus Clearwater on Friday, Jan. 16, at the Jim Baker Fieldhouse.
