Bulldogs finish runner-up behind Valley Center at Buhler Invitational.
BUHLER, Kan. — The McPherson boys varsity tennis team finished second with 43 points at the Buhler Invitational, trailing only Valley Center's 59 in the eight-team field. Cooper Bohme led the Bulldogs with a 3-1 record and a second-place finish in singles after a highly competitive championship match against Sterling's Darnauer, while the doubles team of Jonas Emery and Rylan Unruh went 3-1 to place third in their first tournament together, falling 8-6 in the semifinals to a Valley Center pair.
Mason Eisenbarth went 2-2 in his first varsity singles opportunity of the season, finishing 10th, and the doubles team of Hayden Siemens and Jack Boese recovered from a first-round loss to win three straight and claim ninth. The Bulldogs face a grueling stretch with seven tournaments across seven days between varsity and JV, continuing Thursday at Maize.
