Boys JV Tennis Takes Second at Smoky Valley
McPherson finishes runner-up behind Buhler with 31 team points at eight-team tournament.
LINDSBORG, Kan. — The McPherson boys JV tennis team placed second with 31 points at an eight-team tournament hosted by Smoky Valley High School on Tuesday, finishing behind first-place Buhler's 43 points.
Collin Tully led the Bullpups with a 2-1 record and a runner-up finish at No. 1 singles, while the No. 1 doubles team of Bradon Holm and Seth Turner also went 2-1 to claim second in their bracket. Aiden Pattison earned a third-place medal in the No. 2 singles extras bracket with a 2-1 record, and Owen Smith rallied after a first-round loss to win the consolation bracket at 2-1.
No. 2 singles player Bennett Rank and the No. 2 doubles team of Logan Allen and Derek Stucky each dropped close 5-6 matches that knocked them out of medal contention but finished strong. The JV squad will have a week off before returning to action.
