Bluestem U Launches Free Authors Speaking Series with Local Writers
Two-part event to showcase memoirs and works by Kidron Bethel Village and Schowalter Villa residents

The Bluestem U lifelong learning program will showcase the literary talents of local senior community residents through a free Authors Speaking Series open to the general public. The first session on Monday, October 13, at 10 a.m. at Kidron Bethel Village's Kidron Hall (3001 Ivy Dr., North Newton) will feature Justina Neufeld sharing her memoir "A Family Torn Apart," which chronicles her life in Ukraine during World War II and escape from the war-torn country, alongside Wilma Loganbill presenting "A Very Fortunate Woman," her memoir about overcoming unimaginable loss.
"We have very talented writers in our communities," said Karah Covey, Lifelong Learning Manager. "This series will give them a platform to share their work, fascinating stories, life experiences and knowledge." The second session, scheduled for Monday, November 10, at the same time and location, will feature Lauren Friesen with "The Anabaptists: A Comedy in Two Acts" and "Acting Up: An Anthology of Mennonite Playwrights," plus Janice Pauls with her children's book "Dandelions are Beautiful." Each presentation will include a question-and-answer period. More information about Bluestem U is available at bluestemu.org.
